Thora Gunnarsdottir graduated with a BA from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2005 and a MFA from Valand Konsthögskola in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2007. She has lived and worked in Gothenburg, Marseille, Vancouver and currently in Reykjavík. She has shown internationally both in solo and group shows both as an artist and curator.
Thora uses many medias; sounds, performances, drawings, videos, photographs and texts where the same work can have several different manifestations. Works are site specific explorations connected to place, person or time. In 2007 she started the series Precarious Ringroad which venture into the realm of the self and the individual´s connection with his surroundings. Thora explores this in action by interacting with her subjects and interpret their findings.
She is also one half of Sally and Mo performance duo.
